Design Principles
In order to ensure consistency across our brand, it was essential to detail our design principles from the start. These would ultimately define our mission and the way we approach designing our products.
There are 3 specific components that differentiate us and these form the heart of our brand:
- Reusability
- Portability
- Made for everyday life
Surrounding these three components are principles we adhere to with our products, which include but are not limited to:
Form follows function
Form follows function is a principle of design associated with architecture and industrial design, which states that the shape of a building or object should primarily relate to its intended function or purpose.
We ensured our first product 'SKNYbottle,' adhered to this very principle. The bottle's flat shape is specifically related to its function - the ability to fit a bottle comfortably in your pockets or bags.
Less is More
Another architectural-focused phrase adopted in 1947 - refers to the notion that simplicity and clarity lead to great design. Such a minimalist approach allowed us to focus on two capacities and two colours of SKNYbottle. Where brands may prefer to have many varieties, we truly believe what is less complicated is often better understood and more appreciated.
Problem Solving
We like to put our thoughts right into the heart of problems. We constantly look at ways to challenge ourselves to solve problems we encounter in everyday life. From deep research and conceptual designs through to prototyping and manufacturing, our entire development process involves solving countless problems and through curiosity mixed with empathy, we build our passions for problem-solving even further.
